TeraWulf Inc. (NASDAQ: WULF) has been trading with significant momentum. From late June through mid-July 2026, shares swung between a high near $28 and a recent close around $18.97, providing traders with a wide range for intraday and multi-day moves. The stock spiked above $25 following Anthropic headlines before pulling back—a classic pattern where early news chasers meet profit-taking and short-term consolidation.

In the latest session, WULF opened near $18.79, pushed briefly toward $19.74, and then settled just under $19. Five-minute price action showed tight, liquid trading clustered in the high-$18s to low-$19s, indicating a competitive zone where both dip buyers and day-trading shorts remained active.

Fundamentally, WULF remains a heavy-infrastructure build story. Recent financials show meaningful revenue but also substantial losses and large negative free cash flow as the company invests heavily in infrastructure. Margins on existing operations are volatile, and the balance sheet carries considerable debt with thin equity—a combination that produces high beta: strong upside when sentiment is favorable, but sharp pullbacks when macro, crypto, or AI headlines weaken.

The narrative has shifted decisively away from cryptocurrency alone to AI infrastructure. TeraWulf has locked in a 20-year lease with Anthropic for its Justified Data campus in Kentucky, representing roughly $19 billion in contracted revenue—a major strategic repositioning. Rather than relying solely on bitcoin hash-price swings, TeraWulf is now tying its future to long-duration capacity deals with a prominent AI tenant.

Simultaneously, WULF agreed to sell its 50.1% stake in the Abernathy AI data-center joint venture to a Fluidstack-led consortium, monetizing approximately $450 million of invested capital at a premium. This move recycles capital from a JV structure into projects WULF controls more directly—streamlining the story with less complexity and sharper focus on wholly owned, contracted cash-flow streams.

The buildout requires substantial capital. TeraWulf plans to raise approximately $3.5 billion in debt, including leveraged loans and high-yield bonds led by Morgan Stanley, to fund the Hawesville, Kentucky campus fully leased to Anthropic for 20 years. This represents classic high-growth infrastructure financing: secure the contract first, finance against it, then execute. The approach enhances future revenue visibility but adds leverage and execution risk.

Wall Street has responded bullishly. Rosenblatt Securities raised its WULF price target to $30 and highlighted the Anthropic contract as validation of TeraWulf's brownfield development strategy. Needham raised its target to $33 after incorporating the Justified lease into its model and removing the Abernathy JV. Morgan Stanley took the most aggressive stance, lifting its WULF target to $72 with an Overweight rating. Cantor Fitzgerald called the New York data-center moratorium-driven selloff overdone, maintained an Overweight rating with a $37 target, and argued that WULF's contracted leases alone justify significantly more than the current share price. This cluster of bullish research provides the kind of momentum catalyst that drives trading flows.

For active traders, WULF now sits at the intersection of two powerful themes: artificial intelligence and power-hungry data-center infrastructure. The 20-year, roughly $19 billion Anthropic lease and the premium monetization of the Abernathy stake push the narrative far beyond a simple crypto-mining story. The planned $3.5 billion Morgan Stanley-led debt financing demonstrates that capital markets are willing to back this transformation, yet it also raises stakes considerably. Successful execution by mid-to-late 2027 and early 2028 would transform WULF's contracted revenue base; delays or cost overruns could punish the stock given the same leverage that amplifies upside.

Price action reflects this tug-of-war precisely. WULF is up roughly triple-digits year-to-date and has demonstrated multiple 10%-plus bursts around headlines followed by sharp retracements—prime territory for breakout traders, gap-and-go players, and disciplined short sellers who maintain risk discipline.

The critical discipline is not to become enamored with the narrative. As Tim Sykes emphasizes, "Cut losses quickly, let profits ride, and don't overtrade." For WULF, the AI narrative is genuine, the contracts are substantial, and Wall Street is engaged—but traders must treat every setup as exactly that: a setup with clear entry and exit plans and disciplined risk management.
