AMD signs a $14 billion compute infrastructure deal with Core Scientific, expanding 2.5 gigawatts of AI data center capacity through strategic partnership.

AMD has announced a leasing agreement with Core Scientific valued at more than $14 billion, securing access to 2.5GW of compute capacity. The deal reflects AMD's strategy to expand GPU deployment among its customer base while providing the data centre operator with substantial long-term revenue.

Under the agreement, Core Scientific will provide AMD with at least 530MW of capacity for 15 years beginning in 2027. The contract includes an option to add another 2GW of capacity drawn from five of Core Scientific's US sites, allowing AMD to scale its GPU infrastructure further if demand warrants.

According to AMD Chief Strategy Officer Mathew Hein, the partnership expands access for "model builders, cloud providers, and enterprises" to "deploy AMD AI solutions at scale." The arrangement underscores AMD's commitment to positioning its latest-generation GPUs as a compelling alternative in the competitive AI accelerator market, while giving Core Scientific predictable revenue to support its operations amid the ongoing demand for high-performance computing infrastructure.
