Fort Collins Broadcom site to see $1.5 billion facility upgrade as part of Apple custom chip deal.
Broadcom's Fort Collins facility will receive a $1.5 billion expansion as part of a multi-year agreement signed with Apple. The overall agreement between the two companies is expected to exceed $30 billion and lead to the production of more than 15 billion chips and hundreds of jobs, according to an Apple announcement released July 8.
The expansion will modernize the facility located at 4380 Ziegler Road, which will be used to produce custom silicon radio frequency components and wireless connectivity technologies for a range of Apple products.
Broadcom operates additional sites in Colorado at Broomfield and Colorado Springs. This investment is part of Apple's American Manufacturing Program, which launched last year to accelerate domestic manufacturing. The Fort Collins expansion represents the largest investment made under the program to date.
